I have the honour to request that you will lay before The Earl this my application for a further extension of my leave for one week on the following grounds.

Owing to a Misunderstanding, I am expecting a ... which I am to receive in the beginning of March, will not be forthcoming till the latter part of that month.

The non-reception of this on My departure will cause me the greatest inconvenience. I therefore trust that my request will be favourably received.

I originally purposed leaving England by the mail of the 10th, but am now delayed by the same.

My present leave will expire on the ...th, and I fear that I shall not be able to leave before the ...th.
